In a moving and beautiful ceremony, 18 Victorians were presented with bravery awards of The Royal Humane Society of Australasia today at Government House. The Honourable Linda Dessau AM, Governor of Victoria, presented the awards recognising an array of brave rescues made by ordinary people going about their daily business, who saw another in need and acted. The awards were given for people who had gone to the rescue of others in the case of assaults and armed assailants, car accidents, attempted suicides, river drownings, a house fire and a workplace accident.
During the ceremony, three Silver Medals, nine Bronze Medals, four Certificates of Merit and two Posthumous Medals were awarded.
The full citations for each award can be found on on the Royal Humane Society of Australasia website, here. It’s definitely worth the read! You’ll be so inspired, and moved.
