The COVID-19 restrictions placed on residents of metro-Melbourne, Australia, have been difficult, and have no doubt impacted each of us in different ways.
Amidst the strict lockdown conditions, I was so grateful for the one-hour daily walk allocation, and decided from day one to use this time to focus on the beauty of nature around me. This led me to really noticing the colours and textures of the flowers and plants around me, and to photographing and posting something from my walks each day. Many of these photos have been posted to my Instagram and Facebook sites.
I then started thinking that I could use some of my favourites photos to create beautiful gift cards. I’ve always loved writing letters and cards to friends and family, and don’t hesitate to buy good quality cards to have on hand for those times when I want to send a birthday card or a ‘Thinking of you’ card. It occurred to me, however, that it was time I started using my own cards!
And so here we are … some months down the track, having enlisted the professional assistance of local graphic designers (Summa Grafika and South Star Design), a local printing firm and envelopes business, I now have two sets of nature gift cards ready to share with the world.
Each set features a different favourite nature photo of mine (12 in total), many of which were taken during my COVID-lockdown walks. The cards are printed on 350GSM white linen card stock, and can be ordered in either the rectangle set (105cm x 148cm) or square set (120cm x 120cm), with matching envelopes.
The cost is AUD$40, which includes the 12 cards, envelopes and postage within Australia.
