MAlawi 2009

Fiona travelled to Malawi, Africa, in September last year where she photographed the work being done by “mid-level providers” or “non-physician clinicians” in rural and regional areas of Malawi. These mid-level providers are an essential part of a larger health workforce striving to reduce the maternal mortality rate in Malawi (related to United Nations Millennium Development Goal 5). CENTACARE - KEEPING OUR KIDS AT HEART

Fiona was commissioned by Centacare Wilcannia-Forbes to produce a Coffee Table Book that celebrates and shares the lives of 18 individuals and their families in rural NSW. All of these individuals are involved in Centacare’s Communities For Children initiative and have written their own story about the positive impact their involvement has had in their lives. Fiona has completed photo essays on each of the individuals featured in the 84-page book. The book ‘Keeping Our Kids At Heart’ was launched in Dubbo, Narromine and Wellington.
